Strangers No More and Sayed Kashura: Forever Scared
Strangers No More:  In Tel Aviv, there is an extraordinary public K-12 school, where children from 48 countries and diverse backgrounds are brought together to learn. Some of these children have never attended any school before, and many are traumatized refugees fleeing poverty and hunger, war, and genocide. At the Bialik-Rogozin School, no child is a stranger. This film follows several students in their transformation into confident Hebrew speakers and motivated students who look toward a brighter future through the tremendous effort, love and support of dedicated Israeli teachers. This film won the 2011 83rd Annual Oscar for Best Documentary Short Subject.

FOLLOWED BY

Sayed Kashura - Forever Scared:  Seldom discussed publicly in Israel are the challenges faced by Israeli Arabs who leave the exclusive confines of traditional Arab society to immerse themselves into Israeli society at large. Sayed Kashua, a controversial young Israeli Arab writer with a top-rated Hebrew language television comedy series, is constantly called upon to explain himself as an outsider to both sides of the ethnic divide, and is always scared. This up-close and personal film follows his complicated life over the course of seven years as he searches for a home for his family and explores the conflicted sense of identity that he experiences daily.
