GET READY FOR A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE
The northern San Diego beach area is full of cul-de-sac beaches, beach bluffs, ocean cliffs, and prime views of the beautiful blue Pacific Ocean. It is also home to colonies of seals, sea lions, pelicans, and cormorants.
Join me for an afternoon tour as I take you out of downtown San Diego to see the beauty that even guests from the French Riviera have said was better than their own.
I will take you to the best viewpoints that almost all travelers miss when visiting La Jolla by car or city bus. Even natives of San Diego and real estate agents in La Jolla don't know some of the secret spots.
Along the way, I'll share the history of the area that is just as amazing and entertaining as the views you will enjoy.
This is not your ordinary bus tour. We make stops for short walking tours along the route and then provide a longer, optional walking tour or free time in the Village of La Jolla.
SIGHTSEEING TOUR INCLUDES
1. Scenic Walking Tours of:
Mount Soledad - A one-of-a-kind war memorial and views that on some days surpass 100 miles.
Torrey Pines Golf Course - Home to the 2008 U.S. Open.
Torrey Pines Gliderport - Wind conditions are good most afternoons to watch paragliders fly off 300ft. ocean cliffs.
Note: The walks are short and go at a very casual pace.
2. Guided Bus Tour through:
La Jolla Shores
3. Charter Bus with Professional Driver who takes care of getting us around town while I give you my full attention as your expert guide. (You will have plenty of elbow room. I won't squeeze you in.)
4. Opportunity to visit the shops, art galleries, restaurants and the coastline full of seals, sea lions, pelicans, and cormorants in the Village of La Jolla.
5. Flexibility to stay with your guide the full afternoon or go off on your own for as little as 1.5 hours to as much as 3 hours. (More details below.)
6. Plenty of materials, including a visitor guide, map, special merchant discounts, and even an umbrella on the rare chance it rains.
"I don't usually do bus tours...but I was blown away...by things that you will almost certainly not find in a book or if you explore by yourself. It felt more like a friend showing you around his favourite place than an organised, impersonal tour. I've never enjoyed a sightseeing tour so much."- Anna from Oxford, UK on TripAdvisor
"This guy knows how to give a tour...Great inside stories...handouts to learn more. Best of all, he is fun and personable. Well worth the price of the tour!" - Mike from Cincinnati, OH on TripAdvisor
"Tim, your tour leader, is a walking encyclopedia relative to La Jolla, San Diego, and California in general. This tour is WELL WORTH your time and money" - Melanie from Boston, MA on Yelp
Starts at 12PM and ends at 5PM.
Cost: $58 (Compared to $150+ by taxi - that's if you can persuade a driver to take the same scenic route - doesn't include additional taxi cost if you want to stop at viewpoints - and doesn't include fascinating insight about the area or the walking tours, which is what earns the tour fabulous reviews.)
Tour guests are provided flexibility to enjoy the afternoon. For example, during the tour guests can decide to:
**Sightseeing + Village & Coastal Walking Tour**
Spend the full afternoon with me to see all of the best viewpoints and learn about all of the interesting facts and history of the area. The optional Village walking tour will be a little more than an hour long and takes guests past the shops and galleries as we work our way down to and along the coastline. You will learn about the seals, sea lions, pelicans, and cormorants as well as learn about the pioneering women who made La Jolla the special place it is today. Note: Prior to the start of the optional walking tour, guests will have about 30 minutes, if needed, to get a bite to eat. In addition, guests staying at downtown hotels will be given the opportunity to be dropped off at or near their hotel after the end of the tour.
**Sightseeing + 1.5 hours of Free Time**
Carve out 1.5 hours of free time to browse on your own through the shops and art galleries and walk along the coastline full of seals, sea lions, pelicans and cormorants.
**Sightseeing + 3 hours of Free Time**
If 1.5 hours isn't enough time for you to enjoy the shops and coastline, you can extend it to 3 hours by skipping the portion of the sightseeing tour that goes to Torrey Pines. You can also use the extended free time to go on a kayak tour or take a surf lesson.
