to present Dinners on the Farm

Award Winning Wine pairings by Alba Vineyard

Bryan Gregg, executive chef of the historic Ho-Ho-Kus Inn &Tavern, will prepare the evening's five-course meal using locally grown, locally produced ingredients from New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania. Alba's sommeliers will pair their award-winning wine with each course and treat guests to a guided walk through the vineyard, which is cradled in the rolling, wooded hills of western New Jersey.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the dinner will go to support farms struggling from Hurricane Irene and its aftermath.

The Federal Government has declared five New Jersey counties disaster areas, and it's likely that the remaining 16 counties will also be designated. Losses to state farmers have been severe, according to reports from The New Jersey Farm Bureau. August was New Jersey's wettest month on record, eclipsing the previous record by an astonishing 5 inches. Much of the damage to crops and farm fields has been related to the historic levels of rainfall and flooding.

Advocating for local farmers is at the heart of Zone 7's mission. The farm fresh-distribution service acts as a direct link between farmers and chefs, working to strengthen the local and regional food chain by enabling restaurants, grocers and institutions to buy from small- and medium-sized sustainable farms. Based in central New Jersey and named after its agricultural growing zone, Zone 7 creates a new and dependable outlet for farmers and offers a consistent and reliable source of locally grown products to chefs and grocers.

Zone 7 inaugurated Dinners on the Farm in the summer of 2010 with a series of four outdoor dinners, at Terhune Orchards in Lawrence, Muth Family Farms in Williamstown, Oak Grove Plantation in Pittstown, and Manoff Market Gardens in Solebury, PA.
