Nothing but a Raucous Instrument
It is said that Carlo Gesualdo cut a forest to the floor to repent for murdering his wife. Obsessed with the mythology surrounding the Italian madrigalist, new music presenters Volta Collective and experimental performance company Kiln present Nothing but a Raucous Instrument; a new theatrical work about the man whose seemingly stillborn innovations ignited the twentieth century after being shelved for three hundred years. With a quartet of instruments at the parameters of exploration, an actor, a soprano and bold design, Nothing but a Raucous Instrument mines the man and myth.
