Description
Natural Step Fundamentals:
The initial session is targeted for a general audience of design and construction industry professionals. The presentation will cover the fundamentals of The Natural Step framework(TNS), the science behind the model and how it can be applied as a framework toward the construction and operation of fully sustainable buildings.  The backcasting process as a design charrette tool and case studies of projects that have applied TNS principles will be presented.

Application in Building Design and Construction:
The following hands-on workshop will focus on real world exercises in small groups that will allow participants to more effectively integrate TNS concepts into their professional work. The backcasting process will be introduced as a tool and how TNS can compliment the LEEDTM Rating System will be discussed. Participants will then apply the tools of TNS and backcasting to envision fully sustainable buildings and the steps toward achieving them.

Cost: $150
