Disability Awareness Summit
On October 13, 2011 the city of Memphis and the Memphis Advisory Council for Citizens with Disabilities (MACCD) will be holding its first ever Disability Awareness Summit. The summit will be held at Christ United Methodist Church located at 4488 Poplar Avenue from 9:00-3:00 PM. A free lunch will be provided to all registered participants. The purpose of the Disability Awareness Summit is to increase awareness about issues facing people with disabilities in the areas of housing, transportation, education, healthcare, and employment. We also want to work towards identifying and discussing solutions. Participants will also be able to learn about resources available for people with disabilities through an information fair. The keynote speaker will be Steve Gold, a practicing attorney, who is an advocate for people with disabilities with knowledge in a multitude of areas including housing, healthcare, employment, and transportation. We would like to invite you and your staff to attend.
