Arab Film Festival presents Arabian Comedy Nights
Yes, before you know it, Summer is about to turn into Fall. Of course, the great thing about that is that means the Arab Film Festival is almost here! But nevertheless, to ease your transition into Fall, AND anticipation for the Festival, the Arab Film Festival would like to present the first of the Arabian (Comedy) Nights series!
We have not six, not seven, but EIGHT of the best Middle Eastern comedians joining us on Friday, September 9th at M Bar! So come eat, drink, and laugh so hard you cry away those sorrows in parting ways with Summer! (not that summer ever REALLY leaves LA, but hey, it's another excuse to have a good time.)

- K-von - Headliner As the star of MTV's hit show "Disaster Date" K-von's humor has made an international impact. This hilarious hidden-camera show displays his many talents as each of his characters prove funnier and more outrageous than the last. Additionally, after a two-year standup comedy tour with Maz Jobrani (Axis of Evil Comedy Tour) and an appearance on SHOWTIME with Russell Peters, K-von is ready to unleash even more of his 'Hip Pop Culture' brand of comedy both on-screen as well as in comedy clubs. You may have seen him in movies or hosting on television but this is one standup act you will not want to miss!

- RONNIE KHALIL - Special Guest Ronnie Khalil is one of the most high profile and popular Arab stand-up comedians today and is co-Founder of The Middle Eastern Comedy Festival in Los Angeles. He recently garnered national attention as the first comedian to perform in Cairo after Egypt's revolution, joking about taboo subjects such as politics and sexual harassment.
He has been featured on ABC News, BBC, CNN, The World, NPR, FOX, the European News Channel, Air America, and Al Jazeera (in a good way), and has written articles for CNN.com and CollegeHumor.com.
Ronnie has performed with the Axis of Evil, Arabs Gone Wild, Sultans of Satire and taped two Friday Night Live Showtime Comedy specials in Dubai, including Minorities Rule and New World Order, as well as a stand-up show on Australia's Comedy Channel
- CHARLES MARINA - Host Charles Marina, born in Beirut, is known as the "Lebanese Martin Short". He had his own sketch show in Lebanon (considered to be the Arabic SNL) where he played more than 150 characters. Charles performs as a stand-up and improv comedian all over L.A. He recently hosted seven episodes of "Bala Mazeh" a stand-up comedy show that aired on television all over the Arab world. - MIKE BATAYEH Mike is Jordanian actor/ writer/comic who has extensive film and television credits with notable appearances in 'Breaking Bad', 'Everybody Loves Raymond' and 'The Shield', as well as co-starring in films with Adam Sandler, Hugh Grant, Dennis Quaid and Tony Shaloub. He has a film entitled, "Detroit Unleaded" which is being released in 2012 and will be his first leading role in a feature film. As a Comic he performs all over the US and was part of the first wave of western comedians to perform to middle eastern audiences in Lebabnon, Jordan, Dubai, Nazareth and Egypt. - RIDA HAMZEH Rida Hamzeh is the best comedian in the world. He likes tacos. He's Lebanese and super sexy. He is a lawyer and hates it. He's married and...OMG...she's white. His parents were mad. Now they're happy. But then he did comedy and now they're mad again.
- MARIE-THERESE ABOU-DAOUD Marie-Thérèse Abou-Daoud is a New York transplant and though in LA, has no implants. With a background in acting, writing and life, she is funny and that's all you need to know. You can catch her stand up all over town but if her parents ask, she's still thinking about law school
- Maria Shehata Comedian Maria Shehata brings to the stage a point of view that is hilarious, unique and yet still universal with a combination of a quick-wit and crowd pleasing conversational delivery that has brought her appearances on Comedy Central's The Watch List, Just Like Us: The Movie, and Bridging the Gap: A Middle Eastern Comedy Conference on Showtime.
- Amir Talai: Amir Talai is well known as that guy from those commercials. TV credits include Modern Family, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Family Guy, & How I Met Your Mother, and he threw the party of all parties in Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay. He'll soon appear opposite Chris Rock and J. Lo in What To Expect When You're Expecting.
