Steel Toes
A liberal Jewish lawyer in Canada (David Strathairn) is appointed to defend a hate-filled, swastika-tattooed skinhead who stomped to death a Pakistani immigrant. Expectedly, both client and lawyer view one another initially with revulsion and contempt. Unless he makes a persuasive demonstration of contrition, however, the client has little hope. The gripping and powerful plot focuses on and effort by the lawyer to force his client to reclaim whatever residual goodness might lie deep within his character.
