What is Melodrama?
It's a dark and stormy night... And you may die... Melodrama joins music and drama for heightened expression and storytelling. The most expressive of the dramatic forms, we play high stakes with full physical expression. Unlike method based psychological acting, Melodrama is akin to Artaud's "athlete of the emotions." Playing physical and playing big: large gestures, bold characters, victims, villains, heros, the great struggle of good and evil. And with the Grand Guignolers, expect not boring & fun. Check out our website for more information about the Grand Guignolers and workshops. We are the only theatre offering this training in Los Angeles. Workshops fill up quickly.
Bring treats/drinks if you'd like to join in the post-workout soiree!
Note: Please do not park in the Artworks lot. Street parking free after 7pm. Attire: workout type pants/tops, easily and secure hair off face. Please turn off phone ringers.
