An outdoor spectacle combining circus, dance and theatre, Weighting tells the extraordinary story of an ordinary family living in a grey world of routine and simplicity. Across a bridge the world is full of colour, excitement and music, however to get to the other side the family have to risk everything.
The show celebrates risk-taking, transformation and questions
the right time to let go.
The cast includes seven exceptional disabled and non-disabled performers who take to the air on a huge transformative set in a joyful exploration of equilibrium and balance. They are accompanied by a five-piece band playing a beautiful original score and backed by a local community choir.
Weighting is brought to you by Extraordinary Bodies, a company that is a partnership legacy from the Olympics fusing circus company Cirque Bijou and Diverse City to grow the opportunities for diverse, non disabled and disabled artists to create extraordinary shows collaboratively. Challenging circus practice and trainers whilst working with a site specific set built for the show, which challenges engineering and sparks innovation, Extraordinary Bodies is made up of leading disabled and non-disabled dancers, actors and circus performers aged between 21-50, with extensive combined experience of outdoor arts, circus, participatory and integrated work.
