Docomomo WEWA Fallout Shelter Tour
Join Docomomo WEWA for a rare opportunity to tour the fallout shelter under I-5 in Seattle! We are offering two tours--choose either the 2 pm or 3 pm start time. The tour will be guided by Craig Holstine, WSDOT Historian, and will be 45-60 minutes. There is no on-site ticket sales. There is no wait-list.
Completed in 1963, the fallout shelter under I-5 in north Seattle is a prototype structure from the Cold War era. Although thousands of fallout shelters were built during the Cold War on private property, this is the first and only one constructed under a public roadway in the United States.
