Bold Bellydance Summer party,an East Coast Tribal Extravaganza, featuring DJ Mikio of Freek Factory,  Djinn, Sera, Solstice, The Solstice Project, Sera's students, and other special guests.
We will use dance, sound, light, music, and art to transport us to an environment of freedom.  Transforming mood and perspective through the celebration of the bold feminine. You are invited to dance, or to relax. To create, or to contemplate.  There is a place for everyone to be as they are, and a space to become that which you desire.
Doors open at 8pm with relaxing music, vending, a bar and lite appetizers for sale.  Take your seats for the show to begin at 9:00.  Witness a large group of women empowered through dance and community, sharing their art created through movement.  Djinn will take the night on by playing for a few improvised performances, and then the chairs will be moved to the side to make room for the party.  Open dancing will be further inspired by Djinn, and then DJ Mikio will transport our souls with global sounds until 1pm.  tickets now on sale ($10 in advance, $15 at the door)
Directions:  The Metropolitan Building really is easy to get to.  It is the very first stop into Queens, and it is a very short walk from the subway station if you take the V or E.  There are several trains that converge around the location so I suggest you check out hopstop.com or use the directions posted from the website of the Metropolitan building:
From Manhattan by Subway: Take the Queens bound V or E train to 23rd St.-Ely Ave stop (THE FIRST STOP IN QUEENS!) Exit toward the rear of the train (21st exit). When you emerge from the subway walk straight ahead on 44th Dr. (one long block) until you reach 11th St. Turn right and walk two blocks north. The building is the dark red brick building on the right at 44-01 11th St.
Note: There is both a 44th Drive and a 44th Road and 44th Avenue. Don;t get confused! The Metropolitan Building is on 11th Street at the corner of 44th Avenue.
