Local Food Wisdom presents Ingredients, a documentary film
American food is in a state of crisis. Health, food costs and our environment are all in jeopardy. A movement to put good food back on the table is emerging. What began 30 years ago with chefs demanding better flavor, has inspired consumers to seek relationships with nearby farmers. This is local food.

Please join us for a screening of the new documentary Ingredients, presented by Jim Javenkoski of Local Food Wisdom. The event begins with a simple, seasonal meal featuring foods prepared by businesses in our neighborhood (City Provisions, The Grafton Pub, Provenance Food and Wine and Jo Snow Syrups). The menu includes: grass-fed beef burgers, arugula salad with strawberries & goat cheese, house-made potato chips, cornmeal & rhubarb pound cakes and house-made snow cones prepared with local honey & seasonal fruit syrup. Our guests will also enjoy local popcorn (with Nordic Creamery summer butter) during the movie.

Following the food and film, Jim will moderate a brief Q&A session with a panel of special guests including: farmer Mick Klug and his daughter Abby (St. Joseph, MI), chef Cleetus Friedman (City Provisions), specialty foods retailer Tracy Kellner (Provenance Food and Wine) and urban gardener LaManda Joy (Peterson Garden Project), who collectively will offer their insights and perspectives on Chicago's burgeoning local food movement. Attendees will have an opportunity to purchase a copy of the Ingredients DVD for $20.
