Prepare to be tickled with laughter, baffled by coincidence and delighted with disaster at the hands of strange visitors, fortune tellers, and magicians. Pandemonium takes place when 2 sets of identical twins are separated during a shipwreck. Now, years later, both sets of twins appear in the same town and hysterical laughter ensues as servants mistake masters, doctors mistake patients and wives mistake husbands.
A fast paced comedy taking you on a roller coaster ride of mistaken identity leading to seduction, arrest, and general all round madness.
Humber River Shakespeare Company's annual outdoor theatre performances have become a popular summer tradition. This year, the company returns for a 4th season with the touring production of The Comedy of Errors.
Humber River always puts on an entertaining and creative show but this one is the best I have seen. The timing is excellent, the humour non stop so even children and enjoyed it ( as well as adults who claim to "not get" Shakespeare. I want to see it again!
Thank you Kathryn. That is so gratifying to hear. I am always happy to hear our audience members enjoyed themselves and did not panic at the thought of "not getting" Shakespeare. As for children...we love having them attend our shows. They are - indeed - our future audiences and artists. So glad they had a good time.
As for seeing it again...we have shows this weekend at Montgomery's Inn in Etobicoke.
Brilliant! Simply brilliant. HRSC is the best Shakespeare company I've ever seen - with regard to the comedies. I've yet to see them perform one of the Bard's tragedies. Could they pull it off? Could they make the Language of Shakespeare so clear and understandable as they do the comedies? I'd love to see them try. I think they could do it.
As for TRAGEDY...stay tuned. Next year is our 5th year (already?) and we do indeed plan on tackling our first tragedy. If you want to stay abreast on all things HRSC and find out what our next shows are please joing our mailing list via our website.
Very well done! That play is my companion's favourite Shakespeare and she was delighted by the performance (including the non-Shakespearian asides). The tableau scene at the end where all is revealed was particularly to her pleasing.
