Puppet SLAM Cafe'!

The Puppet Slam Cafe promises an evening of hip, contemporary, adults-only puppetry. The cafe will open for refreshments at 7:30 p.m. and the show will rev up at 8:00. Two beverages are included in the ticket price. No one under 21 will be served alcoholic beverages.

Members of OBIE-winning Great Small Works will appear as masters of ceremonies with shadow puppetry and light-based puppet illusion. They will also present short pieces, including Jenny Romaine's Pirate canta-storia "The Ballad of Georgio Bushwack." Featured artists include Alice Wallace's Hobgoblin Hill Puppets from Louisiana performing "Dance of Death", Liz Joyce and Steven Widerman performing "Song of Sixpence". Chinese Theater Works will perform "The Turkey Vulture". Additional performers include Ron Binion, Yvette Edery and Amanda Maddock.

Hosted by Jean Marie Keevins and Ceili Clemens, the evening will feature Bob Nathanson of Puppets to Go performing "Wendy Glickstein's 6th Birthday Party,"Â Fred Greenspan performing "Professor Frederick's Flea Circus," Sean Keohane performing "Mr. Punch," Howie Leifer's sea shanty sailor, and more.
