Les Anglais, Haiti Well Restoration Presentation
This spring the ASME Idaho section sponsored a trip for two mechanical engineers to travel to Les Anglais, Haiti. The purpose of the trip was to restore access to the well that provides fresh water to the village. The two engineers met with Les Anglais locals to teach them how to perform maintenance on the well's hand pumps and to establish a village water board to take responsibility for the hand pumps.
On June 16th at the Art Museum of Eastern Idaho, the Idaho section will host a presentation on the trip. A social hour will occur from 6:00 to 7:00 PM with heavy hors d'Oeuvres and a cash bar. Attendees will be free to view the art museum's exhibits. At 7:00 PM Mark Slovak will present his report of this trip and explain the problems with attempts to help the people in Haiti.
