Event
Margaret Roach Garden Lecture and Book Signing
Three years ago, Margaret Roach walked away from a coveted position as the Editorial Director of Martha Stewart to fill a craving for solitude, a daily connection to nature and her first passion, the weekend garden she has nurtured for 20 years. She settled upstate, where she can finally see her garden every day of the year, and started AWaytoGarden.com, called the best garden blog by The New York Times.
And I Shall Find Some Peace There: Trading in the Fast Lane for My Own Dirt is her new memoir, a story of dropping out to a rural life.
Margaret's new work has been called, "A moving, eloquent and joyously idiosyncratic memoir." by Kirkus Reviews. Her journey is funny, quirky, humble--and uplifting--an Eat, Pray, Love without the travel--and allows readers to live out the fantasy of quitting the rat race and getting away from it all.
At this Memorial Day weekend event Margaret will be speaking about her book and her garden through the seasons, in a slide lecture called "At Home in the 365-Day Garden."
She has worked for more than 20 years to make her garden in the Hudson ValleyBerkshires area a visual treat every day of the year. Meet the plants and the philosophy that make it happen, delivered with Margaret's trademark dose of "horticultural how-to and woo-woo." There will be an opportunity for Q&A, so bring your questions!
This event, part of the annual Sharon Springs Garden Party, a celebration of the arrival of spring and anticipation of summer, will benefit educational programs at The Farmers' Museum in nearby Cooperstown, New York. The Museum serves 12,000 schoolchildren annual by teaching them about the importance of agriculture and our regional history.
