BIRTH a play by Karen Brody (Denver BOLD)

Mercury Cafe
Denver, CO

"Birth" by Karen Brody was born of her interviews of real women across the US about their birth experiences between 2000-2004. What has resulted of these interviews is a vivid, colorful, and true portrait of how low risk women give birth in the US.

In the play we meet 8 vastly different women from different backgrounds, with a few things in common: they are educated individuals, and they feel the desire for more than the current maternity care system allowed them.

After every performance of Karen Brody's play Birth, audience members are invited to stay and discuss, learn and share their reaction to the performance, their feelings about birth, and how things can change for the better.

All proceeds from ticket sales(minus service fees) go to support the Mother's Milk Bank and the International Midwife Assistance.
