ANN (Arts Nonprofits Now) Conference
Arts Nonprofits Now (ANN) is a daylong conversation conference that will be held at Seattle University on May 14, 2011. ANN's MISSION To promote and facilitate collaborative conversation about significant arts nonprofit trends and challenges, local and universal, between students, alumni, faculty and area professionals, while raising the profile of the MFA Arts Leadership program within the community.
WHY ANN? As busy students and arts professionals, we rarely take the time to engage in conversation and collaboration with others in our field around current issues facing our sector. Taking the time in our day-to-day to delve into the issues and solutions out there in a way that allows for innovation and forward motion is difficult to do, but is a necessity for sustainability. We are in the midst of a changing culture, engagement patterns, and funding structures for the arts in this country, and it is imperative that as a sector we are able to examine our best practices, systems of making and disseminating art, and how we engage with our audiences. ANN will provide an opportunity for current and future leaders in the arts nonprofit field to begin, and continue, dialogue about the most pressing issues, exciting innovations, successful practices, and future visions within the sector.
JOIN THE CONVERSATION! ANN is a chance for current and future leaders to talk about what matters to arts nonprofits right now while contributing to a more sustainable future for the arts in Seattle. We surveyed over 100 area arts professionals to hear their thoughts on trends and challenges facing the arts nonprofit sector. The majority of the responses could be categorized under five broader topics: Leadership, Funding, Advocacy, Arts Education and Audience/Community Development. Collaboration and sustainability will be addressed throughout the conversations.
Join us and be part of the conversation!
