There Will Be Dairy
There Will Be Dairy
Dinner with Kurt Timmermeister, author of Growing a Farmer Sunday, March 27th, 6:00pm Dinner served at 6:30pm *
Our favorite farmer wrote a book.
As Kurt has invited so many to Vashon to break bread and share in the rewards of his farm, so will we on this night cook dinner for him, and some of you. We're working with Kurt to feature anything we can from the farm, including the marvelous Dinah's cheese pasta made with eggs fresh from his hens, homemade ricotta, fresh butter, gelato
This night will be for the lactose celebrant.
Dinner includes welcome bubbles and snacks, family-style dinner, sangria, dessert, and--of course--a reading.
Tickets are $68, plus tax and gratuity (includes one copy of Growing a Farmer, $24)
* Like Kurt, all times are prompt. Our friend will need to go through the city and over the West Seattle Bridge to make a ferry home.
------Growing a Farmer------- Unlike the many "my year of" memoirs that are so popular at the moment, Growing a Farmer chronicles the laborious tens of seasons it took Timmermeister to turn a run down 13-acre property on Vashon Island into the idyllic dairy farm (with chickens, hogs and more) that it is today. The book touches on some timely food-centric topics, and Kurt writes in a sweet, matter-of-fact style, with just the right amount of wry.
