Banquet with Keynote Address by Alvaro Jaramillo
After a catered buffet dinner, Al Jaramillo will present an illustrated talk on 'The Chile Connection: California Birds in a Southern Perspective.' Both California and Chile have Mediterranean climates with similar plant communities. The two regions both have very long north-south extents with rich coastal upwelling, extremely dry areas, high mountains and lush forests. Some families of birds are found in both areas, but others are unique or endemic. The two areas also share some migrants. Come learn about Chile's unique avifauna from one of the best known guides in California and Latin America.
