Digiscoping for Birders
Digiscoping is the art of combining a spotting scope with a digital camera to capture long-range digital images. While high-quality optics give the best results, just about any scope can be used, and the simpler Point-and-Shoot digital cameras often work well. This workshop will present the basic elements of digi-scoping, with an emphasis on simple techniques that can be used in the course of a normal birding trip. Len will discuss the challenges of taking memorable photos, with many examples to illustrate the process. He'll then take you into the field to shoot at some targets, aiming to solve technical problems and improve your techniques. Participants will receive (via email) a detailed monograph that discusses the essential elements of digi-scoping equipment, methods, and relevant websites for further exploration Presenter: Len Blumin Where to meet: Point Reyes Fire Station, 4th & B Streets, Point Reyes Station What to bring: Scope and camera suggested, but not required
