Loma Alta in the Spring
Join Marin County expert naturalist David Herlocker on a walk up above Lucas Valley Road. David knows the birds, reptiles, wildflowers, and insects. There is gentle elevation gain on the Loma Alta Fire Road, but you will be so fascinated with the birds, flowers and other wildlife that you won't notice. The views from the top are spectacular! Moderate walking on gravel road. Guide: David Herlocker Carpool from: Dance Palace Community Center, 503 B Street, Point Reyes Station, at 7:30 am Event location: Loma Alta parking area, summit of the hill near the Big Rock on Lucas Valley Road between Nicasio and San Rafael Target species: Horned lark, lazuli bunting, grasshopper sparrow, raptors What to bring: Binoculars; lightweight scope, hiking boots; warm clothing; water; lunch Limited to 15 participants
