Las Gallinas and Rush Creek
Carpool meets at Dance Palace 7:30 A.M. Point Reyes Station, CA
Las Gallinas is a favorite destination of Marin County birders. The treatment ponds host a wide variety of wading, shore, and open water birds. Surrounding vegetation is home to many chaparral and grasslands birds as well. This outing will also visit Rush Creek, where shorebirds and other waterbirds congregate in the estuary and landbirds visit surrounding oak woodlands. Easy walking. Guide: Bob Power Carpool from: Dance Palace Community Center, 503 B Street, Point Reyes Station, at 7:30 am Event location: Las Gallinas parking area next to wastewater treatment plant at 8:30 am What to bring: Binoculars; hiking boots; warm clothing; water; lunch Limited to 15 participants Target bird or species information: Waterbirds and shorebirds, birds of chaparral and grasslands.
