Every Day is Earth Day: A Closer Look at Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Why buy new when you can reuse, remake or recycle? The Brown Paper Tickets Doer Corps presents an Earth Day lunch break presentation that could help you to save money and make small changes to help save the planet.
Join our featured leader in re-use of household and construction materials, Mary Anne Carter of Second Use Building Materials, and a Brown Paper Tickets' "Doer" supporting makers and artists, including those in the re-making community, Tamara Clammer, for a brown bag presentation and discussion about easy ways to reduce, reuse, remake and recycle as a part of daily life.
Learn why your efforts to reuse, remake and recycle really matter, and how we can all help each other to intentionally make a smaller impact on our planet. Get inspired with tips for helping you to envision and then reshape salvaged materials into unique home improvements and functional art. Afterwards, please stay (if you can) for a free movie screening: "Bag It" explores the use of plastic in our society, from how it's made to what products we see it in that we use every day, and what happens when we are finished with those products. The film encourages us to take stock of our own practices and consider a broader context for our individual actions.
Erika Harder, Brown Paper Tickets 'Recycling Champion' will be available for discussion after the screening. When she's not assisting BPT clients with event management, Erika enjoys finding ways to improve the environmental impact of the company one step a time.
Erika will be joined after the film by Heather Trim, leader of Zero Waste Seattle. At at the time of the film Heather was a leader on the Seattle Green Bag Campaign which was a part of Zero Waste Seattle.
A Doer is a community champion with the skills, experience and passion to enact sustainable, positive change, as an ambassador of Brown Paper Tickets. Like a corporate Peace Corps, the Doer Corps tackles the most pressing needs for communities and for people, with no metrics for sales, no corporate agenda, and with no remuneration to the company for their efforts.
Brown Paper Tickets is a Not-Just-For-Profit event registration and ticketing service, and a place for anyone to discover events that fuel an engine for social good. Like a social corporation, a Not-Just-For-Profit company does not seek to make the highest profit; rather, it seeks to provide amazing products or services while helping to make the world a better place for all.
