Listen To Your Mother! Anderson
LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER is a show that consists of local writers (bloggers and non-bloggers!) reading their pieces about motherhood and all of the various emotions that go along with it. Held in the Alverson Community Theater on May 2 at 3 p.m., the show will feature stories that will make you laugh, make you cry and everything in between.

The net proceeds of this event will benefit Safe Harbor, a place for victims of domestic violence to make a fresh start in a safe environment. Anderson will be only one of  39 cities in the United States allowed to stage it Listen To Your Mother! in 2015!

Listen To Your Mother! Anderson's cast -

Janet Sheppard Kelleher is an award-winning creative nonfiction writer, columnist, and speaker living in South Carolina with her husband Ed. A mother and empty-nester of 3 children, she enjoys traveling, exploring ancient ruins, archaeology, hunting, fishing, parasailing, ballooning, reading, working Sudoku and crossword puzzles, and volunteering for causes close to her heart.
Her book, Big C, little ta-ta: Kicking Breast Cancer's Butt in 7 Humorous Stories, is the first in a series of gift books designed for the newly diagnosed, survivors, and caregivers. It provides a bright spot in a time that's no laughing matter.

Suzanne Price

Suzanne is the mother of two boys and spends most of her days building relationships to facilitate the success of students at Clemson University.  She began her journey into adulthood at Columbia College and continued her academic pursuits with graduate work at Clemson University.  She runs to maintain her sanity, travels with her husband to stay refreshed, and cuddles with her little one to keep her grounded.

Lisa Burns

Lisa is excited to be part of this wonderful event honoring Mothers everywhere.  She has lived in Anderson for 27 years and has always been actively involved in her community.  Theatre is one of her many loves, and she has performed in over 50 different theatrical productions in several area theatres in Georgia and the Upstate singing, dancing, and acting, along with off-stage functions such as producing, choreography, lighting design, assistant director and more.  She has worked on a movie set in Atlanta, an independent film in North Carolina, numerous commercials, and has enjoyed modeling in local stores and events.   Lisa has worked with various community organizations planning and participating in fundraising events for many years.  She just recently performed in Dancing For Our Heroes, representing Anderson Interfaith Ministries.  She has two beautiful daughters, two precious granddaughters, a grandson on the way, and two great sons-in-law that she is proud to call hers.   Lisa is a Caregiver for Home Instead, Inc.

Jennifer Norman

Born in West Virginia and raised in the south, Jennifer Norman grew up with parents who were passionate about travel. Her history teacher mom and geologist dad used to plan massive summer vacations where she to love tourism and history.
A degree in Fashion Merchandising from Bauder College in Atlanta lead her to a career in Image Management with companies like Turner Broadcasting, the Coweta County CVB in Newnan, Georgia, the primary filming location for AMC's The Walking Dead and the Lake Lanier CVB in Gainesville, Georgia.
In 2012, Norman was hired as the Executive Director of Visit Anderson.  She lives in Anderson with her two daughters, Sarah Alice and Margaret, her step-daughter, Isabelle, and her husband, Bill. When she's helping one daughter toward graduation and the other toward a fashion career, she like to live tweet during award shows and critique fashions on Project Runway.

Liz Carey

For more than 20 years, Liz Carey has made a living writing about others. Now, she works on making a career of writing for herself.
Carey left a career as an award-winning reporter to serve as the vice president of the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce. Recently, she took on the challenge of bringing a non-profit organization she helped found, Pints for the People, rise to the next level as its executive director.
When she's not writing grants, working on events or helping clients with their marketing, Carey spends time working on her blog "Hells Funny Belle" or working on her books. Her not-so-much-for-children children's book "My Little Zombie" was published in 2012 and she continues to work on more children's pieces, as well as murder mysteries. Carey lives in Anderson with her husband of 21 years, Mason, and their two children, Mason and Max.
