"LOVE BETWEEN ACTS - A Program of Operatic Intermezzi"
Love runs amuk in two comic musical masterpieces from the days of opera seria and the castrati, although, you won't find them here! (opera seria and castrati, that is.) "Love Between Acts" presents two intermezzi - (short comic musical works which were placed between the acts of large, serious dramas)- the co-authored "Mirena e Floro" by Gasparini and Bononcini, and "La Serva Padrona" by Giovanni Baptist Pergolesi. Both of these works lift the foibles of plotting women and exasperated men to new comic heights.
The Baltimore Vocal Arts Foundation is happy to be revisiting the Baltimore Theater Project with its latest main stage production, featuring the talents of Laura Strickling as Mirena, and Andrew Sauvageau as Floro, with Kimberley Christie as the clever Serpina and Jason Buckwalter as the perpetually harassed Umberto. Staged in the comedia del arte style by Tara Cariaso, with accompaniment by Erica Rome and members of the Aida Quartet, "Love Between Acts" is sure to tickle the funny bone of anyone who has ever been in love!
