The Postman
The Postman is a multi-disciplinary, site-specific, promenade-style work that explores the life and times of Albert Jackson, Toronto's first African-Canadian postman, through theatre and music. The play will take place in short sections along a route that echoes Mr. Jackson's original delivery route in the lower Annex neighbourhood (Brunswick Ave, Harbord St, Bloor St. and Palmerston Blvd). The plot will follow the chronology of Mr. Jackson's life  concentrating on his journey from slavery with his family along the Underground Railroad to his appointment in the postal service and the many challenges he faced as an African-Canadian in his professional and personal life.

The POSTMAN is produced by Appledore Productions and was commissioned by TORONTO 2015 PanAm / ParaPanAm Games arts and culture festival, Panamainia presented by CIBC.

PLEASE NOTE The day before the performance, you will receive a detailed email telling you where to meet for the show you are attending. (all performances are in the Annex neighbourhood or on Palmerston)

ALSO PLEASE NOTE You do not need to print your tickets - we will have a list at the door.  So long as the person ordering the tickets has ID to show at pick-up you can gain access to the show that way.

ACCESSIBILITY  Most performances will be walking shows, where the audience follows the show down a street in the Annex.  However, there are three performances in a Park, and if walking for an hour may be difficult, we suggest you purchase tickets for our shows on either July 12 at 2pm, July 18 at 6:30pm or July 26 at 6:30pm.
