Modern Dance Awareness Society's Gala Benefit 2015
modern dance awareness society presents a site-specific dance party at a private office location on the 48th floor of the Bank of America building, atop Times Square. The evening starts with dreamy crooners Sarah King (of the Smoke Rings) and Elizabeth Soychak (Renegade Cabaret) at sunset. A cross-continental call-and-response dialogue unfolds between a local ensemble of dancers and an ensemble of refugees and artists based in Athens, Greece. It culminates in a dance party with DJ Mr. Wiggles, as day turns to night. The party celebrates 8 years of the passTRESpass project, a movement workshop that addresses the refugee crisis in Greece. This inaugural fundraiser, co-sponsored by Chashama, includes light bites, wine, dancing, entertainment, and a silent auction with commissioned Burning Man artists and more.
