National Wildlife Federation: Douglas Tallamy: Bringing Nature Home
Planting native trees, plants and shrubs in this crowded world carries both a moral and ecological responsibility that we cannot ignore. With 33,000 species imperiled in the US, we must change our approach to gardening and landscaping if we hope to share the spaces where we live and work with other living things. Native plants play a key role in the restoration of our landscapes because only natives provide the coevolved relationships required by animals. As gardeners and stewards of our land, we have never been so empowered to help save biodiversity from extinction, and the need to do so has never been so great. Introduced by celebrity naturalist David Mizejewski, author Douglas Tallamy will sign his book after the presentation.
