Historic Converse Hall! A VERY VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS CAROL, DONE LIKE DICKENS!

Converse Hall
Boston, MA

INCREDIBLY, DICKENS HIMSELF PERFORMED AT THIS LOCATION ON THE SAME DATE IN 1867!

DONE LIKE DICKENS! TRAVEL BACK IN TIME with Victorian era thespian "ENGLISHMAN THOMAS HUTCHINSON" portrayed by actor Al LePage, who intends to give THE PERFORMANCE OF HIS LIFE, WHERE, "WHEN" AND HOW DICKENS DID his first public reading on his famed American Tour!  And, he'll be using the original public reading version, YES, DICKENS' HISTORIC SCRIPT, TOO!

DICKENS' ACTING STYLE! Dickens simply used his voice, made facial expressions, gestured and moved his body to CREATE ALL 26 CHARACTERS!  LePage will do the same -- accents and all -- plus sound effects, too!  From Scrooge to Tiny Tim, from Marley's Ghost to Mrs. Cratchit, there's howls and growls, bangs and bongs, a DANCE WITH A SONG, lively laughter and heartfelt tears.

BEFORE THE PERFORMANCE, PLAYFUL AND INTERACTIVE! LePage's love of improvisation not only means that he may engage you in conversation, but also ask you to join him on the stage!  Since he likes to experiment and believes in seizing the moment, even he doesn't always know what's going to happen next. He's also definitely got what could aptly be called "HIS STORIES" to tell, too, both in "THE YEAR" relevant to wherever he's performing to connect, interpret, and SHARES SOME HISTORY with the audience. This not only makes each performance UNIQUE, but also keeps them fresh and EXCITING, spontaneous and FULL OF SURPRISES, too!

THREE VERY SPECIAL GIFTS WILL BE GIVEN AWAY AFTER THE PERFORMANCE to commemorate the occassion, too!  An 1838 "TUPPENCE" and an 1817 HALF-A-CROWN, both British Silver coins mentioned in Dickens' Carol and a RARE 1876 EDITION of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, also published in Boston by Dickens only official and authorized publisher in America, and original sponsor of his historic American Tour!

ALL PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT THE GREATER BOSTON FOOD BANK, the largest hunger-relief organization in New England, working to help end hunger in eastern Massachusetts. All events hosted at the Parker House Hotel are being fully sponsored by OMNI Hotels & Resorts, Parker House/Boston, and the exclusive print media sponsor for all Boston performances is GateHouse Media New England.
