The Angry Filmmaker Survival Guide Tour

Ever wanted to get the inside scoop on how independent films are made? Noted filmmakers Kelley Baker and Jon Gann will speak at the Lyles Center Auditorium on the Fresno State Campus on Thursday, November 4th at 7:00 p.m. The lecture, which is open to the public, is being co-sponsored by Fresno State's Mass Communication and Journalism Department, which houses the university's film program, along with the Fresno Filmmakers Alliance and the Fresno Film Commission.

Baker is the author of "The Angry Filmmaker Survival Guide: Making the Extreme No Budget Film," and has written, directed, and produced three full-length feature films. For the past five years he has lectured on low budget independent production in more than 200 cities.

Gann is an award winning filmmaker and founder of the DC Film Alliance, a non-profit group supporting Washington, DC's film and video community, and the creator wildly successful DC Shorts Film Festival.

Fresno State professor, Don Priest, promises that the lecture will be informative and entertaining to both filmmakers and the movie-going public in general, "I heard Kelley speak at a media arts conference in Chicago and it was great. I just knew we had to bring him to Fresno."

Fresno Film Commissioner Ray Arthur sees the potential of the event as long term, "Kelley and Jon will offer local filmmakers and film students new insight into the real world of making movies in a competitive setting and do it in an entertaining way. This isn't your grandfather's college lecture! The more tools these filmmakers have, the better it is for future productions in Fresno and the Central Valley."
