MISSIONARIES by composer Elizabeth Swados is a haunting and beautiful contemporary oratorio based on their letters and journals of Jean Donovan, Ita Ford, Maura Clarke, and Dorothy Kazel, who were killed by a death squad in El Salvador during a brutal civil war that claimed an estimated 75,000 lives. This concert will be the work's New England premiere and marks the 30th anniversary of the church women's deaths.
