CARW 10 Year Anniversary Celebration

Please join us in celebrating ten years of work by the Coalition of Anti-Racist Whites (CARW) at a benefit to raise funds for the Duwamish Tribe's Legal Defense Fund.

The people of the Duwamish Tribe are the First People of the City of Seattle and much of King County, Washington. Currently the tribe is suing the federal government for re-recognition, asking to reverse the 2001 Bureau of Indian Affairs decision that the tribe had gone extinct. The Duwamish Tribe was recognized at the end of the Clinton administration only to have that positive determination overturned by the incoming Bush administration. Throughout 2010, CARW is raising funds for the Duwamish Tribe's Legal Defense Fund. CARW has pledged to raise $7,000 - 10,000 and we are well on our way to that goal, having raised $4,500 by September. This event will help us to reach our goal.

Limited parking is available at the Longhouse or at the park across the street. Please consider carpooling.

We have created two general admission ticket prices for this event ($30 and $50) to include as many people as possible. Both tickets grant you the same benefits to our celebration (including dinner) and all proceeds from the event will go to the Duwamish Legal Defense Fund. If you are able to pay $50, we encourage you to donate generously and consider buying a $50 ticket.

Finally, we do not want to turn anyone away due to an inability to pay. Solidarity tickets are available to cover all or part of the cost of a ticket. Please email carwoc@gmail.com to request a solidarity ticket for this event.
