Romantasy Cabaret - 10/23/10
Romantasy Cabaret, a local vaudeville cabaret show, brings back their annual Daringly Scary Macabre Masquerade on Saturday October 23, 2010 in Tempe. The cast and crew of the cruise ship, "Queen Lucy", have boarded the Fright-Tanic where they have become zombies and the passengers portray the ghostly remains of tourists on board. Despite the seemingly macabre theme, guests can be assured they'll be treated to the usual comedy, song and dance, feats and tricks along with the sensual tease of season-appropriate, darkly entertaining burlesque.
ROMANTASY CABARET'S Daringly Scary Macabre Masquerade gives a final send-off of the Queen Lucy, newly named The Fright-Tanic to suit the Halloween season. Previously in the 2010 season, the show had a nautical theme with sailors, pirates, and a host of world-class on-board entertainment. The now-sunken ship is inhabited with ghosts, zombies and other menacing beings. Despite the macabre direction the show takes each Halloween season, fans can still expect the usual light-hearted and high-energy fare as well.
Winner of New Times' Best of Phoenix 2008, for Best Vaudeville Show, Romantasy Cabaret debuted their show in 2007 at the now defunct Paper Heart Arts Venue in the Grand Avenue Arts District of Phoenix. Romantasy Cabaret has since survived two other venue changes and now calls Club Red in Tempe home. Romantasy Cabaret generally puts on five shows each season and has just announced its first ever New Year's Eve show, also at Club Red. Romantasy Cabaret plays to sold out audiences at Club Red, where seating opportunities include Front Row VIP status seating, Reserved Table seating, and General Admission with limited seating available to those who arrive early.
Act one presents comedians, dance groups, singing acts and other campy bits. Act two turns up the heat a bit with yet more campy fun, feats and tricks, and gains a naughtier feel as the show progresses. In act three, patrons are treated to leggy dames strutting, dancing, shimmying and shaking all while providing the sultry tease of burlesque. The show is entertaining, unique and the music selections are always complimentary to the energy the group presents.
Topping it all off, the show-goers are invited to party afterwards with the cast and crew as the Romantasy Cabaret folks and the show's writer, director and producer, Mizz Lucy Morals, come out to mix and mingle for photos and fun.
Since its first show, Romantasy Cabaret has encouraged revelers to dress up in costumes, and there's no better time to don costumes than at the Daringly Scary Macabre Masquerade!
While the nightclub doesn't serve food, attendees can nosh on various hot dogs and sausages for sale by www.djhotdogs.com , located just outside the club's entrance. Pizza can also be ordered from a nearby delivery service (menus available at our hostess stand).
Mizz Lucy Morals urges advance purchase of tickets if patrons hope for a seat for the 3-hour plus show. Front row VIP and VIP Reserved seats sell out quickly. General Admission tickets are usually available through the night of the show.
