The Guitar and the Poets
The season concludes with a concert featuring beautiful, poetic choral settings with guitar accompaniment. Tedesco's Romancero Gitano (Gypsy Ballads) sets the poetry of Federico Garcia Lorca; Jeffrey Van's A Procession Winding Around Me uses the Four Civil War Poems by Walt Whitman. The two composers use the guitar in very different ways to express the emotions in the texts.
