Dear friends and supporters,
Oakland Food Connection is bringing Community Food Parties back in effort to stimulate an explosion of grassroots food justice organizing in Oakland!
Sunday, August 22nd ~ 11am-2pm.
Our brunch's theme is "Oakland and the roots of the food justice movement."
You are the roots!
We only have 50 seats available.
All of our food is sourced from local farms: J&P Organics,Hidden Star Orchards and OFC's backyard and school gardens that use beyond organic practices. You'll meet fellow Food Justice movement builders and supporters while enjoying a bountiful summer menu of delicious delectable foods prepared by surprise special guest chefs Paul Plotkin and Gramcrackah!
Featured community thought dialogue guests are Nikki Henderson, executive director of Peoples Grocery; Brahm Ahmadi, CEO of People's Community Market; and Jason A. Harvey, founder and executive director of Oakland Food Connection. "What are the roots of the Food Justice Movement, and what can I do to shift the movement forward?"
11am: Meet and greet with light appetizers
12pm : multi-course brunch and a live musical performance by Austin Willacy: http://www.austinwillacy.com/
12:15 - 1:00: Thought Dialog with Food Justice Leaders Jason A. Harvey, Nikki Henderson, Brahm Ahmadi.
1:00 - 1:10: Contribution ask, by Zakiya Harris.
1:15pm Networking, more music by Austin Willacy, dessert and mimosas will be served.
2:00pm: event ends.
This is a benefit for OFC's "Healthy Food for All" campaign. Tax-deductible contributions made over $25 at the event will receive a hand-made ceramic bowl or plate from
local ceramics artist, Peter Gee.
