On Tourne Autour
This evening length performance is entitled On Tourne Autour (We Turn Around) and is inspired by the poem "Things I Didn't Know I Loved" by Turkish author Nazim Hikmet. Hikmet's writing speaks of nostalgia and a glimpse of the past. Haunting as it is, this work brings forth memories and experiences of the past that at one point had been lost. The works of Camila Cano, Nicholas Nelson, Ge Gan-ru, Paul Laino, Aida Shahghasemi and Hamza El Din all embody this motif. Coupled with video by Laino , we transcend time and motion to take a look back but only to fuel forward mobility.
