View From the Tent: Thoughts From A Homeless Man

Saint Mark's Cathedral
Seattle, WA

VIEW FROM THE TENT: THOUGHTS FROM A HOMELESS MAN

Show starts at 7PM on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at St. Mark's Cathedral in Bloedel Hall.

The show is a Dramatic Monologue performed by Dan Niven and is based on the book of the same name as the event, compiled by M. Barrett Miller.

The author describes his book as a collection of "thoughts, letters and notes from Atreus [that] were shared with me over a number of years. He was a homeless man living primarily in an outdoor shelter in Seattle. These musings come from a man who was crushed by violence and loss. His reflections give hope to many who find themselves in similar situations living on the outskirts of society."

Dan Niven is an accomplished actor, singer and musician, who gives life to Atreus through a dramatic presentation of selected content from this book. Dan sings in the Total Experience Gospel Choir and plays trombone in the Husky Alumni Band. He has acted and stage managed at Stone Soup Theatre, sung at Benaroya Hall and in Black Nativity at Intiman, and is a regular cast member in local interactive dinner theatre productions.

The event is sponsored by St. Mark's Homeless Advocacy Ministry, a Church in the World social justice initiative.  All proceeds will benefit Tent City 3, a self-managed homeless community, organized by SHARE (Seattle Housing and Resource Effort).  SHARE is the national leader in breaking down attitudinal & unconstitutional legal barriers to Tent Cities.

The one-hour show will be followed by a Q&A period with the actor and author.  The book will be available for sale and signing by the author.
Join us for the show and refreshments.  You won't be disappointed.
