He/She and Me by Sharon Mathis
EXIT on Taylor San Francisco, CA
What do you do when the one you love becomes some one else? When Pat's long time soul mate Sam becomes Sheila, Pat tries tap dancing, Buddhism, shopping, and running in her quest for the essence of love. Exploring universal themes of change and commitment, Pat's story of loss and renewal is a rediscovery of her mate, friends and family, and herself. "Pat" is based on Dr. Virginia Erhardt's interviews with wives who stayed with cross-dressers and transsexuals. She calls the play "deeply moving...compassionate and understanding". For poet and Atlanta Queer Literary Festival Director Franklin Abbott, the play is "a small miracle". Presented by Academy Theatre. Part of the 2010 San Francisco Fringe Festival.
