PASTA! A Pop Ups Puppet Musical
Join the Pop Ups for an educational and comic musical adventure through the magical land of Brooklyn!  Help them find ingredients for to make the best (locally sourced) pasta sauce ever!  Meet fantastic Puppet characters like Mr. Clunkhead, the auto repairman and tomato farmer from Bay Ridge.   Swim with Fruta Di Marme, the onion-drawing mermaid from Brighton beach!   Join us for a Big Wheel rally across Greenpoint, and a surprise visit to a pasta factory full of shapes.  Populated with puppets from Julianna Parr (MUPPET SHOW, FORGETTING SARAH MARSHAL) and Ingrid Crepeaux (DINOSAUR ROCK) puppet shops, as well as hear songs from the Pop Ups, much buzzed about new album, "Outside Voices."  Pasta! A Pop Ups musical will take you on an epic journey.

THE POP UPS are veteran kids rockers JACOB STEIN (6 years and counting as the creator and driving force behind Tribeca's break out BIM BOM MUSICFEST class) and JASON RABINOWITZ (auteur of indie-pop sensation THE BLOODSUGARS, and co-writer/producer of 3 LITTLE MAESTROS albums). The duo has built a high-energy live act around the songs that includes live-drawing, dance-beats, large-scale puppets, guitar riffs, and rocking interactive dance numbers that catapult kids out of their seats guarantee a good time for everyone.


JACOB STEIN has been entertaining children with his unique blend of singing, puppetry, guitar and drum since 2001.  His is a highly energetic and inspiring approach with plenty of participation from even the youngest of audience members.
In 2007, Jacob premiered his Hanukah puppet musical 'The Hammer & The Candle' at Stephen Wise Synagogue and in 2008 his Passover musical 'The Mystery of the Disappearing Afikoman', commissioned by the Jewish Community Project received its premier at the Museum of the Holocaust at Battery Park.
Jacob works with some of the finest (klezmer) musicians in New York including David Licht (Klezmatics), Taylor Bergman-Chrisman (Golem) and Sophie Solomon (Oi Va Voi).
An arts graduate of both Yale and Columbia, Jacob comes from a very musical family.  His father is a Grammy award-winning children's musician and Cantor, his mother is a singer and both of his brothers are professional musicians on the West Coast.  They perform together as the Rolling Steins.


JASON RABINOWITZ has been a writer, producer, performer, and teacher of childrens music in NYC for the past 10 years. He's co-written and produced 3 major label albums for Little Maestros on Kid Rhino.Through his many years as a singer and performer in NYC's indie rock community he has gotten to record duets and sing with the likes of REGINA SPEKTOR, members of THE NATIONAL, BEIRUT, LUNA, RILO KILEY, and NORTHERN STATE, among others.

He has also shared the stage with the likes of SUZANNE VEGA, MIKE DOUGHTY, KIMYA DAWSON (of Moldy Peaches/Juno soundtrack fame), RA RA RIOT, SCRITTI POLITTI, I'M FROM BARCELONA, JEFFREY LEWIS, and many others.
He has sang and performed at Madison Square Garden, The Theater At Madison Square Garden, The Bowery Ballroom, Danny Kaye Theater, Paradise Theater in Boston, as well as had his Broadway debut performing in Little Maestros Live at The Nokia Theatre.  
He is also the lead singer for a much buzzed about new indie band called The Bloodsugars that's already climbing the CMJ charts with their first LP called "I Can't Go On I'll Go On" on Engine Room Recordings.
