MELD
Seattle, WA- Two local dance companies, Clarissa Castro| ALLOY DANCE PROJECT and Dance Contemporary, come together to present to Seattle MELD, an evening of work created by artistic directors Clarissa Castro of Alloy Dance Project and Tesee George of Dance Contemporary. The two Cornish College of the Arts Alumni unite with their companies to enrich the Seattle community with vibrant contemporary choreography. In this combined effort, these two companies aim to introduce their audience to social commentaries on relationships, the world we live in and modern life, using the vocabulary and strength of contemporary dance to convey their artistic intent.
Formed in 2008 by Cornish College of the Arts alumni Clarissa Castro and Lilianna Koledin, Clarissa Castro| ALLOY DANCE PROJECT will present "Bass Beat Quest for Movement I, II,III" and "BACH amalgamation" and the premier of "Seemingly Indestructible". Through the fast world beats and modern electric rhythms of Lula Côrtes & Zé Ramalho and Dirty Bomb, "Bass Beat" confronts a continuous epidemic of intolerance towards diversity in society.  "BACH amalgamation" creates a fused relationship with the vocabulary of ballet and Bach's Harpsichord Concerto No. 1 in D Minor.  Merging the histories of movement and music together with modern fashion and architecture, aspects from the present and past are united in juxtaposition. "Seemingly Indestructible", supported by the Seattle King County 4Culture Organization, was created in partnership with University of Washington students and alumni, Tim Adrena, Scott Claassen and Brian Gruetzmacher and employs a large 8' x10 ' structural wall design created with man-made and recycled materials. In conjunction with the wall, a fusion of ballet technique and modern dance communicate multidimensional concepts and theories in order to address the global issue of climate change, using the music "Ink Blot, Axis & Kaleidoscope" (feat. PC Muñoz) by Joan Jeanrenaud  and "Tashweesh & Mugam Beyati Shiraz" by Kronos Quartet.

Dance Contemporary, headed by Tesee George, will present "Conversations" a piece created to display and study the dialogue that occurs between people. Also presented will be "In Between" danced by a trio of dancers. "In Between" plays with the idea of modern and ballet movement and moving dynamic sculptures created by the body through space. A solo work "Hearing Damage" will be danced by Karen Brown to musician Thom Yorke.

Additional work by guest choreographer Adrienne White will be presented.
