New Old Time Chautauqua
The New Old Time Chautauqua (pronounced "shuh-TAWK-wuh") hits the stage at Sebastopol's Analy High School Theater on Saturday night, April 26th as a crescendo to a 7-venue tour which includes a lively "EVERYBODY'S WELCOME!" parade right down Main Street thru the center of Sebastopol, at noon with the Flying Instruments of Karma Marching Band/Orchestra, a multitude of free fun-filled workshops in the Sebastopol Square between 1 and 3pm, and that night a rip-roaring, balls o' fire, all the bells and whistles, vaudeville variety show featuring the Flying Karamozov Brothers, and a host of vaudevillian legends at 7:30pm at the Analy High School Theater. DonÃÃ,Ã,Ã,¢t miss this fabulous once-in-a-lifetime show featuring zany juggling phenomenon the Flying Karamazov Brothers, multi-instrumentalist Mark Growden, Dusty Rhodes and her Handsome Cowboy, feisty female Kym Trippsmith, Traditional Pomo Dancers, Fighting Instruments of Karma Marching Chamber Band/Orchestra and more.
Chautauqua's Redwood Vaudeville Tour includes a very special challenge from The Champ, a Flying Karamazov BrothersÃÃ,Ã,Ã,¢ favorite. The Champ will juggle whatever the audience brings up on stage! The Champ may modify the object three times in any way he chooses. He can trash them if he wants to. These objects swim at their own risk. The New Old Time Chautauqua takes absolutely no responsibility for what might happen to them or what the Champ might do to them in order to win that standing ovation.*
* Note: Objects have to be heavier than an ounce, lighter that ten pounds, no bigger than a breadbox and no live animals--nothing that could cause the champ to no longer be a live animal.
The New Old Time Chautauqua (NOTC) is an intentional community of performers, friends, and family whose commitment to each other, to humor, to the free exchange of ideas between communities, and to vaudeville as a viable and entertaining art form is paramount. The NOTC operates entirely on volunteer efforts. The performers, musicians, board of directors, advisory board, action committees, and tireless hours of technical and logistical support from many people make our collective dream a reality. So come one, come all for a Vaudeville Extravaganza of music and circus performances. This rip-roaring, balls o' fire, all the bells and whistles, vaudeville variety show blends the raucous and the sublime -- music, juggling, beat box rhythms, cowgirls and Sousa marches!
