The Art of Authentic Cooking & Cocktail Pairing -- Tasting Seminar with Iron Chef Jose Garces
Traditionally, we would start our meal with a cocktail and move onto wine to pair with our food. But in today's world gastronomy, the variety and flavors are so rich and bold that it requires learning how spirits can best enhance our foods. We have invited one of the best Latin chefs and some of the top mixologists, show you what makes for a great food and cocktail pairing.
Chef Jose Garces, the most recent addition to the family of Iron Chef America and owner of many restaurants, among them Amada, Distrito and Chifa, is an American chef born to Ecuatorian parents. For this seminar, he's taking a journey back to his childhood and exploring the cuisine, traditions and flavors of Ecuador.
In the bar, Andy Seymour of winegeek and BAR, is joined by some of the world's best cocktail creators Julie Reiner of Clover Club, Jim Meehan of PDT and Joaquin Simo of Death & Co.-- using traditional world's spirits like Gin, Whiskey, Cognac et al, to create Latin libations inspired by the food of Chef Garces.
4% of all event ticket sales will benefit Grow NYCs (formerly the Council of the Environment of New York City) New Farmers Development Project that helps immigrant farmers New York's Hudson Valley & Catskill Regions, New Jersey and northeastern Pennsylvania.
