SHINE: A Burlesque Musical
Writers: John Woods, Cass King, Sam Dulmage
Director: Roger Benington
Choreographer: Inga Ingenue

Internationally-acclaimed comedy cabaret duo The Wet Spots (John Woods and Cass King), in collaboration with Theatre Off Jackson and the Seattle Erotic Art Festival, will present 12 performances of SHINE: A Burlesque Musical July 8 to 18, 2010 at the Theatre Off Jackson.  A recent winner of a Vancouver Ovation Award for "Outstanding New Work", SHINE is a tassel-twirling original, full-book musical about an infamous burlesque theatre and the family of talented misfits who try to save it from demolition or worse, respectability.

SHINE will be directed by award-winning, NYC-based director Roger Benington.  Featuring the choreography of Seattle-based burlesque star Inga Ingenue, "the little blonde bomb", and the acclaimed songwriting of cabaret
duo The Wet Spots, SHINE is racy, intelligent entertainment for adults that will appeal to the same adventurous audiences drawn to productions such as Rocky Horror and Avenue Q.

SHINE celebrates the re-emerging arts of burlesque, cabaret, and variety with catchy songs, campy jokes and plenty of bump and grind. SHINE won rave reviews in Vancouver, during a two-week run in August 2009.  The Georgia Straight called SHINE "A stellar example of the new burlesque, Shine is an empowered celebration of individuality."

At its heart, SHINE is a love letter to contemporary burlesque, created by those who have lived it. The Wet Spots (Cass King and John Woods) have enjoyed international success with their elegant, comedic songs about sex and have played sold out shows at the Sydney Opera House, Massey Hall (Toronto), Café de Paris (London) and The Public Theatre (NYC).

Theatre Off Jackson ensures that a vibrant arts culture thrives in Seattle by operating a sustainable venue dedicated to performance, art and community.
The Seattle Erotic Art Festival supports a vibrant creative community, promotes freedom of expression, and fosters sex-positive culture through public celebration of the arts.

VIP tickets include: A complimentary drink and early admission for your pick of the best seats in the house!
