A Benefit for the Rosendale Theater Collective starring
Melissa Leo, Mikhail Horowitz & Gilles Malkine, and Lori Wilner
Academy Award nominee Melissa Leo, chanteuse/Broadway star Lori Wilner, and the post-eternity vaudeville team of Mikhail Horowitz & Gilles Malkine will stage a rollicking variety show to benefit the Rosendale Theater Collective on Saturday, May 1, at 8 p.m. All proceeds will go to the Collective, which is trying to raise the funds to purchase the beloved theater and transform it into an artist-run, community-based arts center.
Since debuting in 1984 as Linda Warner in All My Children, Melissa Leo has appeared in more than 100 films and television episodes. Among her most memorable roles were Det. Sgt. Kay Howard in Homicide: Life on the Street; Rachel in The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada; and Ray Eddy in 2008's Frozen River, for which she received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. She'll soon be seen as civil rights lawyer Toni Bernette in the new HBO series Treme.
Lori Wilner appeared as both Shandel and Golde in the 2004 Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof. Among her other Broadway credits are The Diary of Anne Frank, Awake and Sing! and A Catered Affair. She has also logged many gigs as a chanteuse and cabaret performer.
Mikhail Horowitz & Gilles Malkine are reviled throughout the Hudson Valley as living proofs of the decline of Western civilization. They have perpetrated their singular brand of comic anarchy from Seattle to Stone Ridge, and are in great demand for Buddhist bar mitzvahs, breatharian barbecues, Shaker orgies, and burials at sea.
Melissa, Lori, and Mikhail are all members of Actors & Writers, the staged reading theater company formerly based in Olivebridge, and which is now in residence at the Rosendale Theater.
Prior to the show is a special VIP cocktail party at The Belltower. This is a great opportunity to meet the cast and support The Rosendale Theatre Collective.
The Rosendale Theatre Collective is a community group formed to purchase and preserve the Rosendale Theatre and continue its mission of providing quality films, live theater, music and community events in the tradition of its original owners, the Cacchio family.
