For the Love: A Hip Hop Soiree
The soiree will feature a screening of exclusive footage from the film, a silent auction of luxurious packages from local businesses, fine wine, and local cuisine. There will also be a performance by the film's featured youth as well as guest speakers Pat Kernighan, Oakland City Council woman; Alicia Romero, Oakland High School Principle; Tomas Alvarez III M.S.W., Founder of BRL; and a special appearance by A-Plus of Hieroglyphics. Doors open at 7:00PM.
The after party following the soiree will begin at 9:30PM with the a lineup of excellent DJ's: Platurn Oakland Faders , Pam the Funktress The Coup , Haylow Distortion 2 Static, Zita Golden Soundscapes, Be Brown The People, Prince Aries Distortion 2 Static, Similak Chyld FTC/Fabrics, Beats Me Distortion 2 Static. Hosted by Bicasso of Living Legends w/ Special Performance by A-Plus of Hieroglyphics.
Tickets for the event are $50 per person, with discounted ticket prices for artists and teachers at $25 per person, and any attendee for the event is welcome to stay for the after party. Tickets for only the after party will be $8 presale and $10 at the door.
