Morphine frontman Mark Sandman died in 1999, leaving behind an acclaimed discography and an indelible imprint on the indie rock world. A power trio of bass, drums and saxophone, Morphine didn't fit the formula for a successful rock and roll band, yet its talent and innovation landed the band a place in the hearts of critics and college radio fans alike. Journey of Dreams tracks the band's ten-year career and reflects on Sandman's life through the words of those who knew and loved him. Interviews with musicians and friends give context to a band who created a truly unique sound, and influenced not only the 90s indie rock scene, but countless others. First-time director Mark Shuman's film pays tribute to a band who often flew under the radar, yet was one of its generation's best.
