A-Bomb: 70 Years Since Hiroshima
Aug 06
Co-presented by The Sprocket Society.
Thursday, Aug 06 at 08:00PM Rare 16mm short movies about The Bomb, from Hiroshima through the mid 1970s -- the first 30 years of the atomic bomb era. Presented on the 70th anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing. A look at the cliches that soothed us, and the horrors they tried to obscure; from Bert the Turtle to real-world victims, and all points in between. Selections include kitschy Civil Defense propaganda, declassified test footage, secret documentaries, giant monsters, and experimental cinema. Warning: portions of this program may be disturbing, unintentionally funny, or both at the same time.
