CineWire and Warrington Borough Council present a screening of "Brassed Off" (1996) in the ballroom at Warrington Town Hall, as part of their "Film Up North" season.
Voted one of the BFI's best British films of all time, Brassed Off tells the story of a coalmine in a small northern village which is on the brink of closure, putting both jobs and the miner's brass band in jeopardy. The film stars Warringtonian talent such as Sue Jonhston and the late great Pete Postlethwaite as band leader Danny. Despite the village's uncertainty, he continues to enter the band in a national competition, putting more pressure onto the group.
